Whilst amongst the paddy fields and wetlands of the coastal plains, flashes of brilliant blues and greens can be seen as the kingfishers snatch small fish and tadpoles from the water. After the success of last year's trip, where our customers from our Russian Charter operations spent few nights away from their luxury beach resorts of Goa into the wilderness in search of Goa’s rich avifauna. Minar would like to invite like-minded bird enthusiasts to come to Goa and discover their passion for bird watching in the wild! We suggest spending atleast one and half weeks out of mainland Goa i.e. away from their beach resorts. During the one and half weeks the group will visit a variety of habitats, which include sandy beaches, rocky shores, estuaries, mangrove swamps, coastal marshes, freshwater wetlands, ensuring a good chance of spotting the majority of the species to be found within the state. Accommodation is available at “Baga Queen Hotel” in Bagga on Goa's North coast area. THE WILD LIFE SANCTUARIES OF GOA Noted in the wooded areas of the interior of Goa are four wild life sanctuaries they are the Bhagwan Mahaveer, Bondla, Cotigao, and Dr.Salim Ali wildlife sanctuaries. Some 300 different species live here, including hornbills and woodpeckers etc. The Largest sanctuary is the Bhagwan Mahaveer sanctuary which lies in Ponda and Sanguem Talukas of Eastern Goa, bordered by the Eastern Ghats and Karnataka and covers 240 square kilometers.
