Prime Attractions
The Shore Temple

One of the oldest temple in south India and first line temple of Dravidian architecture. But the temple was last in line to be built by the Pallavas. This magnificent temple was included in the world heritage monuments recently.

The shore temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. Though the structure has withstood time and erosion even then some of the carvings have either faded or have disappeared. But the carvings inside the temple remains intact and as wonderful as it can be.

One can see the beauty of this temple at night, as it is lighted after the sunset.

The Tiger Caves

This was an open air theater used for organising cultural programs. The sculpture of lions and tigers on the entrance gives it the name of Tiger Caves. Though it is very near the sea, the place is calm and serene.

Thiruporur

The oldest hill-station, Kotagiri, 29 km from Ooty, is noted for it's favourable climate and natural scenery. Rangaswami rock and pillar, Kodanand view point, St. Catherine falls and Elk falls are worth seeing.
