Prime Attraction : Terekhol Fort - Chapora & Vagator

Terekhol Fort in Goa, India The capital of the Bardez Taluka, Mapusa is located at a distance of 13 kms north of Panaji. Most beaches of north Goa are accessible from here. It is famous for it's 'friday' market. Residents from the surrounding areas of Moira, Porra, Saligao, Arpora, Anjuna, Siolim, Aldona, Calvim come here to sell their home-grown commodities, or home-made wares and the entire population surrounding this town does their shopping from here.

During the rainy season you can buy all types of plants, flowers and samplings from this place, the seasonal favourites being Goan pork sausages, dried fish, cashew feni and coconut jaggery.

At the entrance of Mapusa town there is a statue of Mahatma Gandhi. The famous church of miracles is revered by all and an yearly feast is held. The temple located in the field towards Kanka is famous for the yearly zatra knows as Bodgeshwar zatra.

Prime Attractions
Terekhol Fort

On the north bank of river Terekhol, with a church within it's walls, lies the Terekhol Fort. At present it has been converted into a hotel. A ferry, between 6 a.m to 10 p.m, runs from Querim and Terekhol in every half hour.


Chapora & Vagator

Chapora & Vagator are one of the most beautiful and well known sites along the coastline of Goa. Chapora Village has several hills on top of which is situated the remains of some of the well-maintained Portuguese fort and the estuary of the Chapora River is also there. The view from it's ramparts are excellent. Much of the inhabited area nestles under a canopy of dense coconut palms.

Most beaches in Vagator face west towards the Arabian Sea. Little Vagator, the beach to the south, is very popular with travellers.
