In the auspicious full moon day of Vaisakha in 566 BC in Lumbini grove, just outside Kapilavastu, the young prince was born. He was named Siddhartha Gautama (Siddhartha meaning one who has achieved his purpose, Gautama being the name of his gotra or clan). The prince later on became Buddha or the Enlightened one and entered a living nirvana. The Buddhist sites in India are located in the two states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. For the travelers wanting to tread the path of the Buddha, the journey begins at either of the two entry points to the circuit, Patna in Bihar or Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. Patna, the capital of Bihar in eastern India, provides easy access to the most important center of Buddhism, Bodh Gaya, Rajgir, Nalanda and Vaishali, the other important sites, are also easily accessible from Patna. Varanasi, in the adjoining state of Uttar Pradesh, is only 10 Kms from Sarnath, where the Buddha first preached the eternal Dharma. His Birthplace, Lumbini (now in Nepal), Kushinagar, the site of his Mahaparinirvana and the sacred sites of the Kapilavastu and Sravasti can also be covered.

A camp fire under the stars, which hang large and brilliant in the sky. The stillness of the night hides the overriding features of the Thar Desert that is primieval, savage, lonely. By day its monotonous regularity lies broken only by occasional groups of colorful people and welcoming villages, remnants of wayside forts and palaces, each with a story of past chivalry and glory of the Rajput era. The Thar is a world of its own, an unrelieved ocean of sand, dotted with dunes and scarce xerophic shrubs, with its own distinctive wild life. Here amongst the sun and the sand you will meet some of the most colorful and courageous people on earth. They respond to the rigors of life in the desert with the exuberance of music and songs; their vibrant attire, the upward twist of mustache almost seem to defy the elements. The best safaris are in the heart of the Thar, around Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Bikaner. Variations from 3 days to 15 days are organized, though the optimum is a week long safari. We take care not to pass close to any major towns, camping at small villages and avoiding any proximity to roads with vehicular traffic. We have attempted to recreate the atmosphere of the old caravan journeys. Musicians accompany the caravan, and halts are called outside villages where the local villagers may be invited to join the campfire hospitality. Alappuzha Beach Nestled atop a cluster of hills at an altitude of 286m is situated Ezhimala, 55 kms from Kannur. Carved Stone Pillars, an ancient Burial chamber and an ancient Cave can be seen at the foot of the hills. The Hills are noted for rare medicinal herbs. Furthur uphill is an ancient Mosque. Fascinating Sculptured stone pillars are scattered all over the place. Bordered by the sea on three sides, Ezhimala Beach is poised to occupy a significant niche on the naval history of India when one of the largest naval academies is commissioned here. A naval academy is being developed here in Ezhimala.

The Markha Valley Trek is certainly one of the most varied and beautiful trek in the world. It ventures high into the Himalayas crossing two passes over 15,000 ft. as it circles from the edge of the Indus Valley, down into parts of Zanskar, and passes through terrain that changes from incredibly narrow valleys to wide open vast expanses. It is made all the more interesting by the ancient form of Buddhism that flourishes in the many monasteries that dot the landscape perched high atop a hill. As we trek to the upper end of the Markha Valley we are rewarded with spectacular views of jagged snow capped peaks before cross the 16500 ft. Gongmarlu Pass and descending to the famous Hemis monastery, where we end our trek. The trek has alternative route from Spituk also.

A few centuries ago, the Indian one horned Rhinocerous ranged across the north Indian plains in the wetlands of the rivers Indus, Ganga, and Brahmaputra. In Assam, their Rhino habitat is limited to just two national parks - Kaziranga and Manas. Kaziranga is a title of a remarkable success story of conservation of the One Horned India Rhinoceros and other wild lives in the North East India. It is not only the homeland of the Great Indian One Horned Rhinoceros, but also provides shelter to a variety of wild lives. It is one of the significant natural habitat for in situ conservation of biological biodiversity of universal value. The values and criteria made Kaziranga National Park to get inscribed in the World Hritage Site List 1985. The Kaziranga National Park area consists of 429.93 Sq.Km. with an additional area of 429.40Sq.Km. and situated in the two districts of Assam, namely Golaghat and Nagaon. The total area of the Park within Nagaon district is 175 Sq.Km., out of which 135 Sq.Km falls under Bagori Forest Range office and 40Sq.Km falls within Ghorakati Forest Range office. Kaziranga National Park is a birding paradise; the grasslands are a raptor country that can be seen on safari makes a remarkable experience.
